Emrys slid his hand into Ísarr’s as they jogged down the front steps of the courthouse, careful to keep view of his face obstructed by the shadow of the brim of his hat. He was unable to keep his smile hidden, though, and he turned to Ísarr on the sidewalk, sliding his hand into the side of his new husband’s hair as he whispered, “I love you.”

Ísarr grinned, ducking his head to slant a kiss across Emrys’ mouth before he murmured against his lips, “Did I surprise you?”

“When you took my name as part of your own? Yes, because I thought we’d decided that I’d take yours—”

Ísarr nuzzled his nose, wrapping his arms around Emrys’ slender waist. “But what about our kids? Why would we ever allow them to be different from us in any way? Does that not first start with their names?”

Emrys pushed Ísarr’s hair over his ears as he smiled widely at him, a smile he couldn’t stop any more than he could stop breathing. “And why would I want either of us to be different than our children? I love the sound of your name and mine together—”

“It’s very classy, is it not?” Ísarr interjected and Emrys nodded, lifting another kiss to his husband’s lips, rasping against them, “Very classy indeed.”

A tap came to his shoulder, startling Emrys, and he turned his face to see his friend Rumi Salar standing next to him, wrapped in a long jacket. He blinked, glancing around for paparazzi before he tossed his arms around him in a hug. “Rumi! Hiya!”

“Did you actually check for paparazzi before hugging me? I’m almost offended!” his friend chided as they pulled from the hug. “I do suppose you’re going to introduce me to this gentleman, yes?”

Emrys blushed as he took Ísarr’s hand in his own once more. “Yes, of course. Rumi, this is Ísarr Trevelyan-Marlowe. Ísarr, this is Rumi Salar, one of my best mates.”

Ísarr shook hands with Rumi, commenting, “Your parents must have loved the poet as much as I do to give you such an honorable name. Rumi is one of my favorite poets.”

Leaning in conspiratorially, the actor smirked, “And it’s a good thing that I adore my namesake, too! Otherwise, life would be a bitch for me, huh?”

The three of them laughed as they began the walk to the car, Rumi smiling over at Emrys, saying quietly, “So you found him, huh? Your smiles and his last name are telltale of one happy day that all people strive to find, though I am a bit sad you didn’t make an event of it.”

“These past couple of days have been a mixture of joy and sorrow,” Ísarr explained as they crossed the street to the parking structure. “Someone very dear to us has been hurting, so we are trying to keep the pain at bay.”

Rumi nodded, meeting Emrys’ eyes as he quirked an eyebrow. “Your best mate, huh? She finally told you that she was in love with you?”

“How did…? Christ, was I the only one who didn’t see it?” Emrys asked, incredulity resounding in his voice.
